Click the icon top-right, pick a device — the switch is instant.

Core features

Switching audio should be this simple.

No more digging through System Settings › Sound, clicking layer after layer. SoundHop puts every output device within instant reach.

One click from the menu bar

No System Settings, no digging through panels — open the menu, pick a device, and it takes effect immediately.

Every device at a glance

Headphones, USB interfaces, display speakers, built-in speakers, Bluetooth — listed live, appearing the moment they connect.

Device type labels

Each device shows its connection type (USB / Bluetooth / HDMI / Built-in), so even same-named devices are easy to tell apart.

Sync system alert output

Enable it in settings and system alert sounds follow your main output too — your audio always goes where you expect.

Launch at login, always there

Turn on "Launch at Login" once and SoundHop sits quietly in your menu bar, using next to no resources.

Public system APIs only

Built on the public Core Audio APIs. It never records or reads your audio content — it only switches the default output.

Interface

Three steps to the right output.

The menu below is clickable — try selecting a device and watch the checkmark and "Current output" update live.

1

Click the menu bar icon

The glass-equalizer icon on the right of the status bar — one click expands the device list.

2

Pick your target device

Every available output is listed live with a type label; the current output is marked with a checkmark.

3

Takes effect instantly

The system default output switches the moment you select — no confirmation, no app restart.

Hot-plugged a device? Choose "Refresh Devices" to re-read the list.

Privacy

It collects nothing.

SoundHop neither needs nor requests any privacy-sensitive permissions. It's a tool that only switches — it never touches your data.

Collects no data

No personal information or usage data is gathered, stored, or uploaded. The data types declared in the privacy manifest: none.

No tracking, no network

No analytics SDKs, no third-party tracking, no tracking domains. The app does not depend on any network requests to run.

No recording, no content access

It requests no microphone permission and uses only public Core Audio APIs to switch the default output — never touching audio content.

Runs inside the App Sandbox. Read the full privacy policy →
